LOGGING ON TO SMS
At “THIS TERMINAL IS AVAILABLE” screen, type GWUH, then press ENTER
At the “CIC” screen press Shift F10 (PF22)
At “CPG” screen, type in your SIGNON – cursor will drop to the password field
Type in your PASSWORD, then press Enter
At the Message screen, press ENTER after reviewing message.
NOTE: If you are using a computer from the nursing stations, AND you select the SMS-Hospital icon from the Windows desktop, a macro should run which will take you directly to the CPG-Signon screen bypassing most of the above.
CHANGING SMS PASSWORD
At “CPG” screen, type in your SIGNON – cursor will drop to the password field
Type in your PASSWORD, and then press TAB– cursor will then drop to the NEW PASSWORD field
Type in NEW PASSWORD then press Enter
Verify new PASSWORD then press ENTER
FORGOTTEN PASSWORD
Call the GWUH Help Desk at 715-4955
Tell them that you need to have your password RESET to UHS
They will do this for you then you can log in and change your password
SIGNED ON TO ANOTHER TUBE
At the “CIC” screen press CLEAR (should be on blue toolbar, top of screen [CLR]
Type SOFF USER=(your username)
This will sign you off the other tube
Signed on to another tube means you did not SIGNOFF before you closed the session
Press F22 (Shift F10) and continue your normal SIGNON procedure
NAVIGATING WITHIN SMS
Because SMS is a mainframe application forced into a Windows environment, the easiest way to navigate is to use a RIGHT-SINGLE mouse click. Using the normal windows left-double click only works sometimes.
TO GET YOUR PATIENTS
From Attending’s View Screen,
Pick the PATIENT
If you want ALL the patients listed probe !(PF16) SELECT ALL
Pick the OPTION
VIEWING LAB RESULTS
•01 RESULTS-LAST 24 HOURS
Displays all the results that have been valued in the previous 24 hours for that patient and ONLY those results.
•02 RESULTS-LAST 48 HOURS
Displays all the results that have been valued in the previous 48 hours for that patient and ONLY those results.
•03 OTHER RESULT OPTIONS
Picking this option leads to more options.
•07 BY GROUPS / TYPES (RESULTS SUMMARY)
Selecting this allows you to pick the sub department (BLOOD BANK, CHEMISTRY, RADIOLOGY, ETC). The results displayed will only be results from that sub-department.
•04 DISPLAY ORDERS
Displays a list of all orders that have been placed. To display results of an individual order the status has to be COM (Complete) or FIN (Final) or PEN (Pending)
•05 PT DEMOGRAPHIC DATA
Displays a list of Patient Demographic Categories that can be displayed
•08 ENTER CONSULTING PHYS
Here is where you “permit” another physician to consult (see) your pts information. At Physician Number, choose PF24, (Shift F12) enter first part of last name, and pick the correct doctor. Do this for all the consultants on this pt. Hit enter and the rest of the information defaults in.

Physician Access Gateway Enterprise
PAGE II provides Internet based access to POETS (SMS/Siemens’ Pt Order Entry Tracking System) for remote users. This allows physicians and their office staff access to all functionality in POETS as they currently do in the facility; including census, test results, orders, demographics, and online clinical documentation.
OBJECTIVES:
•Enhance the physician's view to patient clinical and demographic data with a secure, web-friendly appearance
•Improve functionality for physicians and their office staff
•Ease of connectivity
•Access from any internet-enabled device
•Wireless ability
•Provide more print options for physician to choose location where to print
PAGE II allows physicians access to POETS via any device with Internet access. This browser view of POETS provides the physician community with a streamlined view of their patients' data.
PAGE II also allows physicians the ability to print documents to any nurse station in the facility or to their "portal." The portal is accessed via the Internet. It is a secure, private storage place for the physician's printed documents. The documents stored in the portal can be printed from any PC with Internet access and a printer.
